#4: The Enemy Within

19 Nov 2009

There is an old saying, “A leopard never changes its spots”. Wake up Frank Lowy. The great work you have done for Australian Football is being eroded right before our eyes. And it is no coincidence that it has happened right after you have appointed VFL people in key positions of the FFA. For those who have never heard of the VFL (and judging by its appalling lack of success in expanding, that would be 99.99% of the world), it is a small irrelevant game played in a few states of Australia, a bastardization of Football, Gaelic and Rugby. It is also the most insular and worried sport on the planet, worried that its hold on Southern Australia will be eroded by the global giant that is football. So worried that it orders media outlets to not comment on football (unless negative) and to pressure those that do positive coverage to stop or decrease immediately – hello SEN if you are reading, the Melbourne sports station that was a promoter of Melbourne Victory and Football in general but has taken its orders from the top of the VFL and now, like a prison bitch, does what ever it’s butch cell mate tells it to.

So be very careful whom you hire Frank, you should think twice about appointing people from a game that popped champagne every time our national football team missed out on making the World Cup . . . . the leopard’s spots aren’t changing.
