Editorial

February 2009

So with more of a shuffle than a bang Das Libero 01 entered the world on 1 February 2008. Despite the recent heat and fires of late summer, the chill of winter is not long away. With the football season nearly upon us, Das Libero is emerging from hibernation. Das Libero 02 is now being uploaded. Keep coming back because we'll be putting up new material every few days/weeks. We are interested in your feedback — whether positive or negative — and look forward to publishing your letters to the editor.

Das Libero is the only magazine of its kind in Australia. Devoted to the beautiful game but unaligned with any club or association, Das Libero is a free space for argument, ideas, polemic, humour and 'creative' writing about the world game in Australia and beyond.

Das Libero is open to anyone who cares to write well about association football and is particularly interested in publishing the work of researchers and scholars of the game. All scholarly articles and essays are refereed by our editorial board.

Das Libero has feature sections (see links on left) that keep an eye on the media and offer links to all football fans. The soccerphobia section is particularly popular.

Das Libero is a work-in-progress and we will keep building with the aim of creating Australia's best football writing magazine.

Individual contributors have their passions and loyalties but Das Libero in the language of football means freedom.
