#5: The War on Football

20 Nov 2009

There is a new weapon of mass destruction that is threatening the evil empire. And like the Bush administration, the anti-football media will do & say anything to advance their war on football - the weapon of mass destruction that threatens to wipe out the minor codes of Rugby League and AFL.

Every time the national football team plays a game, especially a World Cup qualifier on home soil, the anti-football media ramps up its attack on the game, spewing out lies and hatred to protect it’s two pathetic codes. Rugby League knows the power of football; at least League is played in a few of the countries where football is king, albeit only a provincial oddity played by those with low IQ’s or family inbreeding. VFL on the other hand, played in only four states of Australia and declining in numbers by the day, drinks its own bath water and actually believes it’s a huge sport that has world-wide appeal, clearly demonstrated by its rapid expansion in 150 years (or is it now 170 years, unsure as they seem to celebrate a milestone every eight years or so).

The fear and hatred by so called “sports” journalists against football is astounding. They gloss over the violent actions by their players and supporters, which they could get away with before the internet generation, sweeping every incident under the carpet, yet over blow any incident at any football game anywhere in the world to try and reinforce in people’s minds that football = violence. The fact that football is played in every corner of the globe, sometimes in very violent places, never enters into a balanced perspective on things. Imagine the crowd reaction to some of the on-field violence we see on Rugby League or VFL fields on a weekly basis, I know it’s very hard to imagine anyone north of Albury actually caring about VFL, but please use all your power of concentration, stop laughing and imagine that VFL was embraced as an International sport, or League was played by more than .000006% of the worlds population. Actually scrap that, we wouldn’t wish the sexual or physical violence on women that expansion of these two barbaric codes would inflict, although as per the League/VFL line it would be the innocent woman's fault.

Just like the American army emerging empty-handed from their search for the weapons of mass destruction, so too will the Australian media come away empty handed in its quest to keep down the beautiful game.
